(c1615-1688) of Salisbury, Mass., came from England in about 1640. The
second, Simon(1) Hoyt (1590-1657), settled in 1628 in Charlestown; later
living in Dorchester and Scituate, Mass., and then in Windsor and Stamford,
Conn. Much detail on early Hoyts in England (where the name has almost died
out) is given, as is the ancestry of Simon(1) Hoyt. In all, a scholarly,
well-done genealogy, invaluable to all interested in the Hoyt surname, in
