Description:
MONROE (Waldo County), Maine, Vital Records Of, Prior to 1892. Transcribed by Elizabeth M. Mosher. 360pp.; illustrations, 11,726 entry Every Name Index. 2003 (1991).
Monroe was first settled in about 1800, at which time it was within Hancock County, Maine. In 1820 it fell within the newly formed Waldo County, where it remains today. The original town records are recorded in five old volumes. Elizabeth Mosher, continuing her series of exacting transcripts, has extracted verbatim all forms of vital records (births, family groups, marriage intentions, marriages, and deaths) found anywhere within the five volumes. Picton Press has, as usual, added our customary Every Name Index, which in this particular case totals almost 12,000 entries. This gives you a clear indication of the immense amount of work which Elizabeth Mosher has done on your behalf!
