The vital records contained in this book were acquired from four different sources. The primary information comes from Bangor's birth records located on a microfilm of a typed transcript of the originals, dated probably between 1940 and 1955. The transcript was made from the original records and sorted first alphabetically and then somewhat chronologically. Other srouces used in the compilation of these records were the baptism and membership records of St. John's Episcopal Church, 1st United Methodist Church and Columbia St. Baptist Church. After all of these records were compiled, Michelle Thomas then cross referenced them to the 1880 federal census for Penobscot County and to Marriage Returns of Penobscot County. If she was unable to determine without doubt the validity of a cross reference, it was not included.
These Birth records begin in 1775 and continue into 1892 providing the researcher with a vast amount of genealogical data. The additional work Michelle has done by including church records and then cross-referencing the individuals to the census and marriage records makes tha a valuable source of information for researchers of Bangor families.
