9 original Kirchenbücher, all of which are held by Staatsarchiv des
Kantons Bern, which also owns the copyright to all of them. The 9
Kirchenbücher of Kirchgemeinde Linden include the records of the Gemeinde Linden (formerly Kurzenbach) and the communities Ausserbirmoos, Barschwand, Innerbirmoos, Otterbach, and Schönthal. Kirchgemeinde Linden was called Kurzenberg until 1945. Kirchgemeinde Kurzenberg was established in 1840 out of part of Kirchgemeinde Oberdiessbach as well as from the 1945 merger with the formerly independent Gemeinden Ausserbirrmoos, Innerbirrmoos, and Otterbach to form Gemeinde Linden. Staatsarchiv Bern has duplicated all 9 Kirchenbücher on 4 rolls
of microfilm. It is these 4 rolls of microfilm which, with the assistance
of Staatsarchiv des Kantons Bern, we have digitized here on CD-Rom in easy to use PDF format. These CDs have the Adobe abilities to enlarge the images, etc., but the CDs are not printable. However, printed copies of individual pages are available for those who have purchased CDs at a cost of $2.50 per page plus p&h. Also included on the CD is a map of Switzerland showing Canton bounderies, a map of Canton Bern showing the location of the Gemeinde, a foreword, bookmarks to each separate churchbook, and a list of Geschlechter for this Gemeinde.
