The churchbooks of Kirchgemeinde Steffisburg, Canton Bern, Switzerland 1557-1875 are contained in
24 original Kirchenbücher, all of which are held by Staatsarchiv des
Kantons Bern, which also owns the copyright to all of them. The 24
Kirchenbücher of Kirchgemeinde Steffisburg include the records of the Gemeinden Fahrni, Heimberg, Homberg, Steffisburg; as well as the former Gemeinde Thungschneit which was merged with Heimberg in 1869. Staatsarchiv Bern has duplicated all 24 Kirchenbücher on 10 rolls
of microfilm. It is these 10 rolls of microfilm which, with the assistance
of Staatsarchiv des Kantons Bern, we have digitized here on CD-Rom in easy to use PDF format. These CDs have the Adobe abilities to enlarge the images, etc., but the CDs are not printable. However, printed copies of individual pages are available for those who have purchased CDs at a cost of $2.50 per page plus p&h. Also included on the CD is a map of Switzerland showing Canton bounderies, a map of Canton Bern showing the location of the Gemeinde, a foreword, bookmarks to each separate churchbook, and a list of Geschlechter for this Gemeinde.
