The full set of these CDs contain the entire set of passports issued in Canton Bern for a full half-century. This one CD contains passports for the dates 7 May 1877-17 March 1887, with an index, plus the index of passports issued 18 March 1887-31 Decebmer 1913. The data on each person normally includes their full name, their Gemeinde, their current residence, age, occupation, the place they are travelling to, the period of time they expect to be gone (as you might expect, many emigrants said they were going only for one year), and the names, ages and relationship of the people with whom they are travelling.
This is an absolute gold mine for 19th century Swiss Research!
