The First Parish Federated Church in South Berwick, Maine possesses the original records of the First Church of Berwick—the third oldest church in what is now the state of Maine—which were microfilmed by the Maine Genealogical Society. The records of the Second Church of Berwick are privately owned but have not been microfilmed. The earliest records begin on 21 Dec. 1701 and continue until the middle of the 19th century. Included are baptisms, records of marriages, and church membership information along with miscellaneous church records. While versions of these records were published over seventy years ago in copies of New England Historic Genealogical Society’s Register, this transcription has corrected many errors and omissions and is much more complete, not the least of which is due to the inclusion here of fornication cases.
