Description:
This work treats the family of Thomas Brewer- a Connecticut sailor who left Glastonbury, Connecticut before 1771 to settle in that part of North Yarmouth, Maine, which became Freeport. Later generations moved further north to Mount Desert Island and were original founders of Bar Harbor. Although the primary focus is on the Maine Brewers, another branch who went from Connecticut to Cortland County, NY is also followed, as are lines that remained near East Hartford, Connecticut. There is also a long section on other allied families in the ancestry of the author, including extended treatment of the Maine Strout, Hodgkins, and Rodick families. The book features numerous photographs and maps, and charts by Julie Helen Otto.
