Description:
Waldo Sprague's "Genealogies of the Families of Braintree, Massachusetts 1640-1850" is the definitive work on South Shore families of this area. Over the course of twenty-five years, Sprague researched unpublished vital records, manuscripts, and other collections to create over 6,000 index cards referencing these families. He also treats families who left Braintree in mass migrations to other towns (such as Rehoboth in 1643), as well as families who arrived later. His work covers the original town of Braintree and the daughter towns of Quincy, Randolph, and Holbrook. Many families from the nearby towns of Milton and Stoughton are also included. This is the only compiled treatment for many of these South Shore families. Sprague's entries have been standardized in Register format for easier use.
