Troy, Waldo County, Maine was incorporated in 1812 and because of its central inland location on a migration pathway has always had a large number of residents who soon moved elsewhere. As such its vital records are an unusually valuable research tool.
Mr. Hillman has transcribed all of the vital records verbatim and in their original format; his meticulous work is enhanced by the customary Every Name Index. Births are included from 1779 to 1892; deaths from 1809 to 1892; and marriages from 1182 to 1892. Private records of deaths 1832-1881, many not found in the original town records, are also included, as are the Federal Census Mortality Schedules from 1850 through 1880.
