"It is heartening to witness the renaissance of a great genealogical journal. Expertly edited, and handsomely printed by Picton Press...a welcome addition to any genealogist's library." —New England Historical and Genealogical Register
"We look forward eagerly to future issues of The Genealogist—and only wish it were a quarterly!"—The New York Genealogical and Biographical Society
"First, accolades for The Genealogist. The first issue under the new editors and your expertise is superb. The format is excellent. The cover is in first class good taste. I am pleased that we have you."—Myrtle Stevens Hyde, Fellow, American Society of Genealogists
Following the transfer of ownership from Dr. Neil D. Thompson, its founder in 1980 and Editor for almost two decades, The Genealogist, under its new owners, The American Society of Genealogists, continues its publication schedule of two issues per year, in the Spring and Fall, with each issue containing a minimum of 128 pages. The Society assumed publication with Vol. 11 No. 1, which was published in the Spring of 1997, and will be publishing and distributing issues regularly henceforth through Picton Press, one of the oldest and the most prestigious genealogical publishers in America.
The purpose of The Genealogist remains unchanged; providing a forum for top quality genealogical articles which, for reasons such as length, do not fit elsewhere. Shorter articles are also welcome. The Editors are particularly interested in single family studies and compiled family genealogies, single line descents, and articles which solve a specific problem while demonstrating a technique for solution of similar problems. The Editors will not draw arbitrary geographic or chronological limits for articles, but will continue to exclude queries, which have a proper place in many other publications.
Dr. Thompson is currently preparing an index for Volumes 1 through 10. Copies of issues prior to Vol. 11 No. 1 may be requested from Dr. Thompson.
Articles for publication should be submitted to the editorial address: The Genealogist, 25 Rodeo Dr. 22, Sausalito, CA 94965-1783.
Subscription rates are $25.00 per year (two issues with index) and $45.00 for two years. Foreign subscribers $43.00 for one year; $81.00 for two years, which includes international shipping. If you wish a sample copy, send in $10.00 which will be applied toward your subscription if you choose. Back issues, beginning with Vol. 11 No.1 are available at $15.00 per issue.
New subscriptions begin with Spring issue of current year.
