"This is an excellent genealogy. It belongs in all libraries that emphasize the Old
Colony and New England research." - The American Genealogist.
"A model genealogy, beautifully documented and properly presented in a standard
format with appropriate comment where necessary. The quality of the layout,
binding, and attractive endpapers of this book mark it as a product of Picton
Press." - The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record.
After twenty years of research Van Wood, already well known for his decades of
Pilgrim research, brings you the definitive answers on Francis Cooke and his
descendants.
Francis was one of the more interesting of the Mayflower passengers and one of
the 1627 purchasers who saved Plimoth Colony from bankruptcy. His descendants
are legion, spanning America from coast to coast. The names of the 6th generation
children, and most of their spouses, are also included here.
This book references Dutch documents in the first years of the Separatist
movement in Leyden, Holland in the opening years of the 17th century and includes
many verbatim transcripts of wills, deeds, etc. for the first generations in America.
Noted Pilgrim scholar Dr. Bangs has added a definitive Foreword which adds
greatly to our appreciation of the Pilgrims. Every Plymouth Colony researcher and
every genealogical library of any size will want this book. Highly recommended!
